Day 23 - Wednesday (week 7 of lockdown)

Today we're learning about World War 2 and V E Day:

Nye was very good at helping me to explain to Nia what World War 2 was about. We all discussed the pictures:

Evacuation was a scary thought for Nia. Nye helped me to explain why children would be safer in the countryside. We looked at the list of what children would have in their suitcases when they were evacuated:

Certain foods became more difficult to find. Everyone had a ration book to make sure they could buy their fair share. We discussed some of the foods which were rationed, and the things we could grown in our garden, and thought about the meals we might have. Nia decided she would have a fish and carrot sandwich for her lunch. We could grow our own potatoes to bake. We would save the butter, sugar and eggs to make a cake:

He also learnt about the countries in involved in the war, and their leaders at the time:

Nia did some of her maths task, filling in the missing numbers on Victoria Cross medals:

Later we have some fun tasks on Morse Code and making our own V E Day bunting.
