Nia is learning about the Victorians today. We discussed the kind of jobs children had to do at that time, and how Nia might feel if she had to work in a mine or up a chimney.
Nye started the day off by finishing his 'silent letters' crossword and then did some Easter maths (fractions and percentages).
Nia decided to draw a picture of Queen Victoria...
We looked at lots of things common in Victorian times, such toys, and talked about how things were different then, like how clothes were washed.
Then Nia did some times tables activities.
Nye took a maths SATs practise test upstairs to work through where it's quiet.
This afternoon Mum and Nia baked cookies, cheater style (thanks to Betty Crocker)...
...While Nye played Minecraft. I set him the task of making me something to help Nia with her two times table. He did it!
When someone stands on the plate next to the appropriate number (e.g. 5) a light comes on next to the correct answer (10).
Nom nom 😁
Now we're going outside to do some digging in the garden. School closed for today.
