Day 6 - Monday

The students are lacking enthusiasm this morning so Mum decided to make it a short session.

The reading didn't last long but at least they did a bit 😕

Next up, maths. Nia did some robot addition and subtraction activities from her booklet.

Nye did a couple of MyMaths tasks (away from his sister as she was looking at him, apparently).

For English, Nia wrote in her daily diary and practised some spellings. Nye did a couple of tasks on subordinate clauses.

Nia did some Easter colouring until Nye was ready for science...

Now the exciting bit - a science experiment 😎 Growing purple crystals. 

First we had a think about what might happen, and the predictions were written down. Nye helped Nia with some of the words - great co-operation!

Nye loves amethyst so we had a closer look at it with a magnifying glass. We could see the crystals in pointy shapes.

For our experiment we had to dissolve some crystal growing powder in a bowl of hot water...

Adding more powder and stirring stir until the water was saturated with it...

Then the purple liquid was poured into a glass jar...

Once the liquid had cooled a little we dropped a seed rock into the jar...

Nye and Nia wrote a few lines about what they did and what it looked like.

The next part will take a few days of patience. The jar (with the purple liquid and seed rock in) is sat on the side. We're hoping we will start to see some crystals growing soon.

The teacher has now quit. The students have disappeared upstairs. Tomorrow we'll be learning about the Easter story.
